Matriculation Ceremony

The Federal College of Education, Technical, Umunze, celebrated its 35th and 13th joint matriculation ceremony, welcoming new students into its diverse academic programs including the National Education Certificate (NCE), Degree, and Professional Diploma in Education.

Amidst a gathering of students, faculty, families, and well-wishers, the ceremony commenced with a dignified procession, setting the tone for the auspicious occasion.

Reverend Father Francis Ude, Chaplain of Christ the King Chaplaincy, led the opening prayer, invoking blessings upon the proceedings. The Provost, Professor Theresa Okoli, officially declared the ceremony open, marking the beginning of a significant milestone for the incoming students.

In her address, Professor Okoli congratulated the new students on their admission to the institution, emphasizing its commitment to fostering skills and self-reliance. She underscored the ceremony’s importance as a formal induction into the college community, reminding students of the institution’s dedication to excellence in character and learning.

Highlighting the academic offerings, Professor Okoli outlined the college’s programs, including NCE, Degree (in affiliation with Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka), and Professional Diploma in Education (PDE), all of which maintain full accreditation status. She emphasized the institution’s motto, “To Educate for Self Reliance,” underscoring its emphasis on entrepreneurship, ICT skills, and vocational training alongside academic pursuits.

Representing Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Vivian Nwagbo, Dean of the Faculty of Education, congratulated the matriculants, urging them to pursue excellence and acquire relevant skills for self-reliance in their future endeavors.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, represented by Mrs. Oyibo Alor, Director of Higher Education, affirmed the state government’s commitment to quality education, acknowledging the college’s role in fostering learning and development.

Dr. Titus Ezeme, Provost of Federal College of Education, Ofeme Ohuhu, Abia State, offered words of wisdom to the new students, advising them to persevere, cherish relationships, and remain focused on their goals and values.

Expressing their excitement, some of the new students, including Mr. Promise Itukokwu, Miss Oluchukwu Mgbii, and Mr. Michael Okoye, pledged to make the most of their educational journey, promising to uphold their families’ legacies and contribute positively to society.

The formal admission of the matriculants into the college marked the climax of the event, symbolizing the beginning of their academic journey and membership in the college community.
