The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved an upward review of fees for the Nigerian Passport, set to take effect from September 1, 2024. This announcement was made by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Deputy Controller of Immigration (DCI) Kenneth Udo, in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to Udo, the decision is part of the government’s efforts to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport. He detailed that the fee for a 32-page passport booklet with a five-year validity has been increased from N35,000 to N50,000. Similarly, the cost for a 64-page passport booklet with a ten-year validity has risen from N70,000 to N100,000.
However, Udo noted that the fees for passports remain unchanged for Nigerians in the Diaspora.
He expressed regret over any inconvenience the fee increase might cause, but reassured citizens of the government’s commitment to transparency and delivering high-quality services.
