Federal Government Declares June 17th and 18th Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha Celebration

The Federal Government has announced that Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18, 2024, will be public holidays to celebrate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha.

In a statement released on Friday in Abuja, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, conveyed the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government. He extended congratulations to the Muslim Ummah both within Nigeria and abroad.

Tunji-Ojo encouraged the Muslim community to embody the spirit of peace, kindness, and sacrifice, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He also called on them to use this period to pray for the unity, prosperity, and stability of Nigeria.

The statement emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration remains committed to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians.

“While wishing the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-ul-Adha celebration, the Minister advised all Nigerians to take responsibility in the resolve to hand over a prosperous Nigeria to our children,” the statement concluded.
