Federal Government Declares October 1 Public Holiday for Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Saturday in Abuja.

In his message, Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his felicitations to Nigerians both at home and abroad, praising the resilience and hard work of the nation’s citizens. He emphasized that their sacrifices would not go unnoticed and encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the efforts of past heroes while remaining focused on the tasks ahead.

The minister also urged continued commitment to nation-building and wished all Nigerians a joyful Independence Day celebration.
