The 2024 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, held on Sunday, November 24, at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State, celebrated excellence in Nigerian cinema, with filmmaker and actor Femi Adebayo emerging as the biggest winner of the night.
Adebayo’s epic film *Jagun Jagun* clinched six awards across 24 categories, including the prestigious Best Actor and Best Costume awards.
Other notable wins included Biodun Stephen’s *Momiwa*, which earned accolades for Best Screenplay and Best Editing, while *Unknown Soja* by Kolade Alebi won in the Best Actress and Best Child Actress categories.
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo. The award was presented by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Director-General of the National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, Aare Abisoye Fagade. Governor AbdulRazaq used the occasion to showcase Kwara State’s ambition to become a leading hub for film production, announcing plans for the newly launched Sugar Factory Film Studios to host two major epic films in the coming year.
Founded by Seun Oloketuyi, the BON Awards is a traveling ceremony designed to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Nigerian film professionals and stakeholders. Executive Director Feranmi Olaoye noted that winners were carefully selected by a distinguished jury.
The star-studded event, hosted by actress Toyin Abraham, attracted numerous celebrities, including Binta Ayo-Mogaji, Kazeem Adeoti, and Mercy Aigbe-Adeoti.
The BON Awards continues to be a pivotal platform for acknowledging and celebrating the creativity and hard work of Nigeria’s film industry talents.
