Fireboy DML Explains Collaboration with Rema Amidst Speculations of Beef

Nigerian music sensation, Fireboy DML, has shed light on the decision to collaborate with his colleague, Rema, rather than engage in the anticipated rivalry, citing their mutual advancement in the industry.

In an interview with Apple Music’s Ebro, Fireboy elaborated on the rationale behind their collaboration, emphasizing their stature as leading artists in the Afrobeats genre. He remarked, “Myself and Rema are the two leading [Afrobeats] artists of our generation. We came together and realised that instead of giving the fans what they want which is beef, let’s collaborate. Because we are too advanced for this stuff.”

Dispelling notions of discord, Fireboy highlighted the collaborative effort as a demonstration of their artistic maturity, opting to create meaningful music rather than succumb to fan-driven expectations. He added, “We didn’t even give them a club banger, we made proper music. We have five more collaborations.”

Fireboy and Rema had previously been subjects of comparison on social media following their rapid rise to stardom in the same year. However, tensions eased following their collaboration on the track titled ‘Compromise’, featured on Fireboy’s third studio album, ‘Playboy’.
