FirstBank Launches Bluu TV to Support Nigeria’s Creative Arts Industry

FirstBank has unveiled Bluu TV, a new entertainment platform aimed at fostering creativity and innovation in Nigeria’s growing creative arts industry. The launch, held on Friday, coincided with the premiere of Bluu TV’s original series, *A Heart on the Line*.

Speaking at the event, FirstBank’s Managing Director and CEO, Segun Alebiosu, represented by Idowu Thompson, Group Executive of Private Banking and Wealth Management, highlighted the bank’s dedication to the creative arts through initiatives like First@Arts. Alebiosu described the sector as a driver of economic growth and cultural development.

“We are thrilled to launch Bluu TV, a vibrant hub for African entertainment and lifestyle content,” Alebiosu said. “The creative arts play a significant role in shaping our culture, promoting our values, and inspiring positive change. Through our First@Arts initiative, we have consistently supported the arts, including stage plays like *Kurunmi* and the Lagos International Theatre Festival.”

Bluu TV, described as a “youth-centric initiative,” is designed to deliver innovative African content while fostering education, unity, and entertainment. Alebiosu noted that the platform aligns with FirstBank’s commitment to promoting productivity and job creation within Nigeria’s creative economy.

The series director and producer, Abimbola Craig, shared her gratitude to FirstBank for backing the ambitious project. “This has been two-and-a-half years in the making,” she said. “FirstBank’s patience, understanding, and willingness to support the creative arts have made *A Heart on the Line* a reality.”

Craig emphasized the challenges of filmmaking and praised FirstBank for championing the creative sector with the launch of Bluu TV, which promises to set new standards in African storytelling.

The launch of Bluu TV underscores FirstBank’s innovative approach to supporting the creative economy, cementing its position as a key partner in Nigeria’s cultural and economic development.
