Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has expressed that his team is still not at the level he desires, despite their recent success at the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Lome, Togo. The Flying Eagles secured victory last month by defeating rivals Ghana 2-1 in the final, retaining their championship title and earning a spot at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
However, during a meeting with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Kwara State, Zubairu highlighted his concerns over the team’s defensive performance. “I’m somewhat dissatisfied with our defense; we were conceding goals consistently. This vulnerability cannot be overlooked on a larger stage,” he stated.
Zubairu emphasized that while the team’s success is commendable, continued improvement is crucial as they prepare for tougher challenges ahead.
