Former Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Dr. Anselm Onuorah, has praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts in building robust democratic institutions in Anambra State.
Dr. Onuorah congratulated Governor Soludo on his recent achievement of signing eleven bills passed by the Anambra State House of Assembly into law. He noted that this legislative milestone signifies significant progress for Anambra State and underscores the Governor’s commitment to the welfare and advancement of Ndi Anambra.
Highlighting the importance of the new laws, Dr. Onuorah stated that the Anambra State Electoral Law, 2024, represents a pivotal step in enhancing the state’s democratic processes. The law aims to ensure the conduct of free, fair, and credible elections, thereby bolstering public confidence in the electoral system. According to Dr. Onuorah, this legislation is crucial for fostering a more credible and inclusive democracy and empowering the citizens of Anambra State.
Dr. Onuorah also commended the establishment of the Anambra State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission. He described this initiative as instrumental in promoting economic growth, infrastructural development, and improved living standards in oil-producing areas, including Anambra East. He emphasized that this commission would address the needs of host communities and drive economic prosperity.
Furthermore, Dr. Onuorah lauded the comprehensive nature of the other bills signed into law, which tackle issues such as touting prohibition, cult activity prevention, health facility accreditation, peace building, conflict management, market safety, trafficking prevention, and revenue administration. He highlighted that these laws reflect Governor Soludo’s dedication to addressing various challenges and building strong, democratic institutions.
