Former Delta State Commissioner Joan Onyemachi Mrapkpor Kidnapped During Church Service

Joan Onyemachi Mrapkpor, a former Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, popularly known as “Ada Anioma,” was reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday during a church service in Asaba, Delta State.

Mrapkpor, who recently resigned her position to allow her younger brother to contest in the local government council chairmanship election, was abducted from her church located off Delta Broadcasting Service Street.

An eyewitness recounted the incident, stating, “There was a commotion inside her church close to police headquarters on DBS Road. We all ran due to the shooting. It just happened a few minutes ago. One aide was shot dead, and a security personnel is presently unconscious.”

The Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, noting that one of the command’s officers was killed by the abductors. Edafe assured that detectives are actively pursuing the kidnappers and promised to provide more details as the investigation progresses.

The abduction has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about safety and security in the area.
