FRSC Zonal Commander Urges Enhanced Support During Visit to Anambra Command

The Zonal Commanding Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS5 Headquarters, Benin, Assistant Corps Marshal Nkechi Orakwue, has called for concerted efforts to ensure the safety of road users, emphasizing the Corps Marshal’s zero tolerance for road crashes.

During a familiarization visit to the Anambra Sector Command Headquarters in Awka, ACM Orakwue stressed that road safety is a collective responsibility involving the government, stakeholders, and the motoring public. She highlighted the importance of aggressive and consistent public enlightenment campaigns to educate the public on safe road use.

Commending successive Anambra State governments for their support to the FRSC since its inception in 1993, the Zonal Commander appealed for additional logistics support, particularly in the form of operational vehicles. She noted that such support would enhance the visibility of FRSC officials on the roads and ensure prompt emergency responses.

Addressing FRSC personnel, ACM Orakwue urged them to recommit to their duties, avoid patrol misconduct, and safeguard their lives and jobs by adhering to the rules governing their operations.

Deputy Corps Commander Christy Okonkwo expressed gratitude, noting that the presence of the first female Zonal Commander at RS5 Headquarters was a significant encouragement, particularly for female colleagues. She wished ACM Orakwue success in her mandate and called for divine support.

Anambra State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Adeoye Irelewuyi, was also present at the event.
