GehGeh Shares Journey From Hustling in Ghana to Becoming Viral Financial Content Creator

Social media influencer Ojaigho Prosper, widely known as GehGeh, has amassed 2.7 million followers on TikTok and 936,000 on Instagram. In an interview, he recounted his background, rise to fame, and mission as a content creator.

Born in Uwheru, Ughelli North, Delta State, GehGeh grew up in a large family where his father, a headmaster, and his mother, a farmer, struggled to raise 15 children. He later moved to Warri for secondary school. He initially posted content on WhatsApp before a friend encouraged him to try TikTok in 2023. His first video gained 50 comments, while another was reposted by Instablog, branding him a “Young Financial Expert.” The exposure cemented his niche in financial advice.

GehGeh said his videos are rooted in personal experience, including his time hustling in Ghana, where he made and lost millions. A turning point came when he realized that financial success is less about how much one earns and more about how well one manages money. His content attracted attention from celebrities such as Don Jazzy, who reposted his videos and boosted his visibility. This led to demand for private coaching sessions, which he initially offered at ₦10,000 before increasing the fee to ₦30,000.

One of his viral videos argued that renting could sometimes be more financially sensible than building a house, a perspective that drew widespread engagement. He also connects money issues with relationships, noting that many young men he counseled struggled due to partners who derailed their financial plans.

Despite criticism from women who accuse him of straining relationships, GehGeh insists his advice benefits both genders, emphasizing self-reliance. He recalled how his mother kept the family afloat after his father’s death in 2015, underscoring the importance of women working and being independent.

He has also courted controversy with views such as calling DNA tests more important than birth certificates and suggesting life imprisonment for women who deceive men with paternity fraud. Still, he maintains he only speaks from reality and experience.

GehGeh revealed he once earned over \$31,000 during a TikTok live session through gifts, which he described as proof of the impact of his platform. He also founded what he calls the “University of Wisdom and Understanding,” primarily aimed at men, to teach life and relationship lessons often overlooked.

While fame brings scrutiny, he said he remains unfazed by criticism, adding that positive feedback outweighs the negative. The father of four, with children from different women, says he continues to focus on teaching and content creation, combining his family’s legacy in education with his own experiences.

According to him, his middle name, Oghenegege, inspired the moniker GehGeh. If not for content creation, he noted, he would still be teaching, a passion that runs in his family.
