General System Collapse Disrupts Power Supply in South East Nigeria

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has announced a widespread power outage across its service areas following a general system collapse. According to a statement released by the company, the collapse occurred at 6:48 PM on October 14, 2024, leading to a total loss of electricity supply.

The affected areas include the entire network of EEDC, covering the five states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo. The power outage has resulted in all EEDC interface stations with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) being out of supply.

EEDC’s Corporate Communications Head, Emeka Ezeh, confirmed that the company is on standby, awaiting further details from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo regarding the cause of the system collapse and the timeline for restoring power.

The company apologized for the inconvenience and assured customers that efforts are underway to address the situation.
