Golden Eaglets Aim for Victory Against Togo in Crucial Group Game

Golden Eaglets head coach, Manu Garba, has declared that his team will aim for a win against Togo in their final group game on Wednesday, despite needing only a draw to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U-17 Championship.

The defending champions have accumulated four points from their first two matches in the tournament. Garba emphasized that the team is solely focused on securing maximum points and not settling for a draw.

“We are not here to draw matches. I am not happy that we drew our first match against Burkina Faso. We should have scored a number of goals, especially towards the end, but we cannot be crying over spilt milk,” Garba told thenff.com.

Reflecting on their performance, he added, “We got the three points against Niger Republic, and we have to keep the winning mentality. We cannot afford to gamble; a win is what we are going for. Even though they lost their first two matches, we cannot afford to underrate the Togolese. They got two goals against Niger Republic, even though they eventually lost, so they are not a team to be taken for granted.”

The Golden Eaglets are determined to maintain their form and secure their place in the semi-finals with a victory.
