Gospel Singer Ada Ehi: “Gospel Music Is Not for Fame Seekers”

Gospel singer Ada Ehi has emphasized that the gospel music industry is not a platform for those seeking fame, but rather a calling to minister and share faith through music.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Ada Ehi explained, “I didn’t choose gospel music. I have a calling in my life to minister to people. Music is my gift and my platform for expression. Gospel music is not just a genre; it’s music that carries the presence of God. My music is gospel music, faith-based, so I incorporate faith into my music.”

Addressing the challenges in the industry, she noted that while some might get distracted, gospel music remains a mission rather than a path to stardom. “Gospel music is not for fame seekers. You are a messenger. Get familiar with the message, with the gospel, and with the Messenger,” she advised.

Reflecting on her journey, Ada Ehi expressed gratitude and confidence in her path. “I have no regrets. I trust in God for how far I’ve come, and I know that He who began this good work is more than able to perfect it. My relationship with God is for my good. I am a Christian first and foremost before I am a messenger. The more I grow in my knowledge of the Lord, the better I can express Him to people.”

Ada Ehi also highlighted the role of parents in protecting children from inappropriate content. She urged parents to be mindful of what they watch and listen to, as children are often influenced by their surroundings. “As parents, we have a huge role to play. We need to sanitise our environment—what we watch, and what we listen to. The kids are watching and listening with us. Nowadays, you see a child’s birthday party become like a rave, with alcohol, dirty dancing, and loudness. These children are watching. We forget that some contents and environments are not age-appropriate,” she said.

She further pointed out that schools also have a responsibility, criticizing educational institutions that allow inappropriate music to be played at school events, leading to children engaging in suggestive dancing.
