Popular gospel singer Osinachi Kalu-Egbu, widely known as Sinach, was recently honoured with a surprise birthday celebration organised by her husband, Joseph Egbu, along with friends and family, in commemoration of her 53rd birthday.
The event, which took place at the Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos State, drew guests from around the world. It was an evening filled with emotional tributes, worship songs, and heartfelt surprises. The singer, dressed in a black ball gown, was visibly moved and admitted she had no idea such an elaborate celebration was planned.
“She had no idea. She’s someone who doesn’t like too much attention, but how do you not celebrate someone who has impacted the world quietly yet profoundly?” her husband remarked during the event.
Speaking on behalf of the family, James Egbu, her husband’s brother, described Sinach as an extraordinary woman whose humility and character shine just as brightly as her music.
The star-studded celebration saw the attendance of prominent gospel artists including Nathaniel Bassey, Buchi Atuonwu, Obiora Nwokolobia-Agu, Victor Thompson, and Blessed Uzochikwa.
Also in attendance were notable figures such as the daughter of Zimbabwe’s President, Chidi Munanagwa, and her husband Bright Ekeleme. Renowned international gospel artistes like Ron Kenoly, Da’dra Grathou, Daniel Washington, Evans Glover, and Flourish Peters sent goodwill messages in honour of the singer.
The event was hosted by comedians Dan’D Humorous and Steve Onu (Yaw), while musical performances from Ayo Vincent, Noble G, and the God’s Generation Choir added to the emotional tone of the evening.
