Governor Alex Otti Assures Justice in Killing of Soldiers in Aba

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, announced on Thursday that the state government is making progress in gathering credible intelligence regarding the killing of five soldiers in Aba on May 30.

During a morale-boosting visit to the 144 Battalion, Nigerian Army, at Ngwa High School, Aba, Otti addressed the soldiers about the tragic incident.

Five soldiers were killed by unidentified gunmen at Obikabia Junction in Aba on May 30, a shocking event that has prompted a robust response from the state government.

“We have started getting very credible information; this intelligence gathering will continue, but I do not want it to dampen your morale,” Otti said, emphasizing the importance of continued vigilance.

The governor highlighted the efforts of his administration over the past year in collaborating with the military to ensure the security of Abia State. He encouraged the soldiers to stay focused and undeterred by the recent violence.

“I believe, from credible intelligence available to us, that this criminal act may have been executed by people who are opposed to the progress and the good things that are happening in Abia. So, we will get to the root of the matter, we will arrest everyone that is involved,” he asserted.

Governor Otti also commended the Nigerian Army for their dedication to protecting citizens, which has significantly contributed to the safety of lives and property in the state. He urged the soldiers to remain alert and assured them that the government would pursue justice for their fallen comrades.
