Governor Soludo Applauds Federal Government’s Launch of Schools Protection Squad to Enhance Security in Anambra Schools

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has commended the federal government for its Schools Protection Squad (SPS) initiative, an effort by the Nigeria Police Force aimed at enhancing safety in educational institutions across the state. Describing the initiative as timely and proactive, Governor Soludo praised the federal government during the flag-off ceremony for the SPS stakeholders’ forum and training session held at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka.

Representing Governor Soludo, Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim underscored the priority placed on student and teacher safety by the state administration. He called on teachers, traditional rulers, and community leaders to work closely with security agencies, especially the police, by providing timely and relevant information to ensure swift action on security matters affecting schools.

Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, represented by Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 13, Mr. Godwin Aghaulor, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure the safety of schools and communities.

National Coordinator of the Schools Protection Squad, Mr. Lanre Ogunlowo, and Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nnaghe Obono Itam, reiterated the program’s goal of creating a secure environment for teaching and learning. Both encouraged stakeholders to contribute actively to the fight against insecurity, acknowledging that a collective approach is essential to the success of the initiative.
