Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State had the honor of attending the 148th session of the National Economic Council (NEC), held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The session was chaired by His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
A key highlight of the meeting was the launch of the Nutrition 774 Initiative, a groundbreaking program designed to tackle malnutrition across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas. The initiative aims to address the critical issue of food insecurity and improve the nutritional well-being of Nigerians, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers.
Governor Soludo, who has been a strong advocate for sustainable development and improved healthcare, expressed his support for the initiative, emphasizing its potential to significantly enhance the quality of life for millions of Nigerians. He commended the Federal Government for its commitment to addressing malnutrition, which remains a pressing challenge in many parts of the country.
The Nutrition 774 Initiative aligns with broader efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 2, which focuses on zero hunger and improved nutrition. The program is expected to leverage partnerships with state governments, local communities, and international organizations to ensure its successful implementation.
Governor Soludo also reiterated his administration’s dedication to collaborating with the Federal Government and other stakeholders to drive impactful policies and programs that benefit the people of Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole. He emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing systemic issues such as malnutrition, which require coordinated efforts at all levels of governance.
The 148th NEC session provided a platform for robust discussions on critical economic issues, with a focus on strategies to strengthen Nigeria’s economy and improve the welfare of its citizens. The launch of the Nutrition 774 Initiative marks a significant step forward in the nation’s efforts to combat malnutrition and promote healthier, more prosperous communities.
