Governor Soludo Celebrates Historic Marriage of Daughter After 142 Years in Family

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, gave his daughter, Adaora, in marriage in a grand ceremony held on Saturday at his hometown, Isuofia, in Aguata Local Government Area. The event attracted numerous dignitaries, including key members of his administration and representatives from his in-laws’ family in Onitsha.

Governor Soludo took to his verified Facebook account to share the significance of the occasion, revealing that this traditional marriage was the first in his family in the past 142 years. He attributed the long gap to the rarity of female children in the Soludo family, a trend that he has fortunately reversed with the birth of his four daughters.

“In the presence of my family, kinsmen, friends, and my in-laws from Onitsha, I gave out my lovely daughter, Ifeatu Adaora Soludo, to her heartthrob after all traditional rites had been met and certified in line with the customs of the Isuofia community,” Soludo wrote.

He further expressed his joy and gratitude, saying, “I celebrate this historic event for two reasons. First, God has graciously blessed the larger Soludo family with another such marital union after 142 years (by my estimate). This is largely due to the fact that female children have been a rarity in the past three generations of the Soludo family. To break that ‘jinx,’ God has mercifully provided me with four beautiful daughters, whom I celebrate every day.”

Governor Soludo also celebrated the addition of his new son-in-law, Arinze Ibekwe, to the family, noting that through this marriage, he has gained another son. The joyous event marks a significant milestone in the Soludo family, bringing together tradition, family, and new beginnings.
