Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has expressed his condolences to the Amaucheazi family of Umunachi in Dunukofia Local Government Area following the death of their matriarch, Professor Ogo Amaucheazi.
Professor Ogo Amaucheazi was the wife of the esteemed political science professor and former Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Professor Elochukwu Amaucheazi. She was also the mother of Anambra State Commissioner for Lands, Professor Offornze Amaucheazi. Her funeral service took place at Immanuel Anglican Church, Umunnachi.
During his visit, Governor Soludo shared his deep connection with the family, recalling that the late Professor Ogo Amaucheazi taught him the Use of Library during his time at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He described her legacy as immeasurable and stated that her life had a profound impact.
The Governor praised the family for complying with the state burial law, highlighting the importance of living a fulfilling life and ensuring a dignified burial, which is a key reason for the enactment of the law.
In his sermon, the Anglican Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo, reminded the congregation of God’s design for the world, encouraging believers to empathize with those in mourning and find joy with those who are happy, accepting all situations with faith.
Commissioner Offornze Amaucheazi and his father, Professor Elochukwu Amaucheazi, expressed their gratitude to attendees for their support, noting that they strictly adhered to the Anambra State Burial Law. They spoke of the profound loss they felt, emphasizing the values of honesty imparted by the late matriarch.
The funeral was attended by several dignitaries, including former Governor Dame Virgy Etiaba, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, and Chief Judge of Anambra State Justice Onochie Anyachebelu. Also present were Secretary to the State Government Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Principal Secretary to the Governor Barrister Joachin Anaeto, members of the Anambra State Executive Council, Archbishop Emeritus of Enugu Anglican Diocese Most Reverend Emmanuel Chukwuma, and Bishop of Ihiala Anglican Diocese Right Reverend Professor Israel Okoye, among others.
Professor Ogo Amaucheazi passed away at the age of 78.
