Governor Soludo Inaugurates Renovated School Blocks at CSS Oko

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has inaugurated newly renovated classroom and administrative blocks at Community Secondary School Oko in Orumba North Local Government Area. The renovation was undertaken by Chief Gordon Obidigbo through the Okuchukwumunyelu Foundation.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Governor Soludo emphasized the importance of human capital development in his administration’s agenda. He commended Chief Obidigbo for his contributions, aligning with the public-private-community partnership initiative aimed at sustainable development.

Governor Soludo highlighted that effective resource management has enabled his administration to make significant progress in infrastructure and other sectors, urging more community involvement to meet citizens’ needs.

Barrister Casmir Nwafor, the National President of Oko Peoples Union and Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, expressed gratitude to Chief Obidigbo for his support. He stressed the importance of contributions from affluent individuals to community development, acknowledging that the government alone cannot fulfill all needs.

Mrs. Ifeoma Enekwechi, the Principal of the school, noted that this was the first instance of an individual investing significantly in the school’s future. She hoped this initiative would encourage others to address the school’s additional needs, including a perimeter fence, sports equipment, modern educational materials, and updated toilet facilities.

Chief Obidigbo, represented by the Coordinator of the Okuchukwumunyelu Foundation, Mr. Ernest Nwosu, explained that his decision to support the school was driven by the decline in public education quality. He aims to restore confidence in public schools through his contributions.

Due to ongoing security concerns, Chief Obidigbo announced that items procured for furnishing the buildings would be delivered at the beginning of the next term.

The school’s Senior Prefect, Master Chidiebere Akpan, joined in the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, marking the official commissioning of the projects. The Oko Youth Movement, led by President Dr. Kanayo Nwosu, presented an award to Chief Obidigbo for his community contributions.

The event was attended by Mrs. Charity Igwe, Aguata Zonal Director of the Post Primary School Service Commission (PPSSC), Dr. Bibian Okoli, a PPSSC member from Aguata Zone, and other dignitaries.
