Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State marked his third year in office with a pontifical Thanksgiving mass at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Awka.
The event drew dignitaries, government officials, clergy, and local community members, reflecting Soludo’s commitment to religious and cultural values. The mass, led by Peter Cardinal Okpalaeke of the Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia, featured prayers and hymns to express gratitude for the state’s progress.
Governor Soludo described his tenure as a divine journey and noted that much of his campaign manifesto had been fulfilled. He emphasized his administration’s principle of “one state, one people, one agenda,” driven by empathy and compassion. He highlighted achievements in education reform, youth empowerment, road infrastructure, and healthcare, while also focusing on boosting local businesses and job creation.
In his homily, Most Reverend Matthew Hassan-Kukah of the Sokoto Diocese reminded attendees that public office is a contract and commended Soludo’s strides in education, health, and infrastructure. He asserted that Soludo has no excuse not to succeed, given the opportunities before him.
Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor of Awka Diocese welcomed all attendees.
Community leader Chief Azubuike Ekweozor expressed optimism about Anambra’s future under Soludo’s leadership. Notable attendees included APGA National Chairman Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, former Governor Dame Virgy Etiaba, First Lady Nonye Soludo, Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Chief Judge Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, Secretary to the State Government Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Head of Service Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, top government officials, service chiefs, traditional rulers, and presidents-general.
