The Eko Hotel and Suites Convention Center in Lagos was packed on Saturday, May 25, 2024, as Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, was honored with the Champion Group of Newspapers’ Governor of the Year Award for Infrastructure and Rural Development.
Receiving the award on his behalf, Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim accepted the accolade from former Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Donald Duke.
In his presentation, Mr. Duke remarked, “The history of our country Nigeria in modern times cannot be complete without the sufficient mention of Prof. Soludo.” He praised Governor Soludo’s exceptional performance in infrastructure and rural development, noting the transformation of Anambra State into a “big construction site” with numerous projects across the state. He lauded Soludo’s leadership, prudent resource management, and responsive governance as key factors leading to this prestigious recognition.
Dr. Ibezim expressed gratitude to the organizers, stating, “This award is a push to do more for the people of Anambra and also an indication that Anambra State under Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR is on the right track. We will continue to do more for the people we have been called to serve.” He dedicated the award to Ndi Anambra and members of the Solution Team.
The event was chaired by Brigadier-General Buba Marwa, former military governor of Maiduguri and Lagos States and current Chairman of the Nigeria Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Other notable attendees included the Deputy Governor of Borno State, traditional rulers, business executives, bank MDs/CEOs, and numerous industry captains.
