Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, has announced that Governor Chukwuma Soludo will soon commission the Fegge Specialist Hospital, a project undertaken by his administration. The hospital, awarded to Crystal Dove Construction Company on May 20, 2024, is 90% complete.
Dr. Obidike, who visited the construction site unannounced, emphasized the importance of the new hospital for the densely populated Onitsha South Local Government Area, which previously lacked a general hospital. He noted that Fegge is one of five local government areas where Governor Soludo’s administration is building new hospitals.
“This project reflects the governor’s commitment to ensuring public access to affordable healthcare services. I must commend the contractor for their exceptional project management, delivering ahead of schedule and surpassing expectations,” Dr. Obidike remarked.
He added that the necessary equipment for the hospital has been approved, and healthcare worker recruitment has also been secured, ensuring that the facility will be fully operational upon completion.
Dr. Obidike expressed confidence that by the end of Governor Soludo’s second term, Anambra would emerge as a hub for medical tourism, with a focus on achieving universal health coverage and providing accessible, affordable healthcare across the state.
