Governor Soludo Urges Road Safety Synergy Ahead of Yuletide Season

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has called for a collaborative approach to ensure road safety across the state during the upcoming Yuletide season. Speaking at the 2024 Ember Months Campaign flag-off meeting organized by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra State Sector Command in Awka, the governor, represented by Deputy Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, affirmed that safeguarding lives and property remains a top priority for his administration.

Governor Soludo commended the FRSC Anambra State Command for its dedicated efforts in protecting residents on the roads. He emphasized the need for road safety to be seen as a shared responsibility, not solely the duty of the FRSC, and cautioned drivers against reckless behavior, highlighting that life is irreplaceable.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Joyce Alexander, addressed the gathering under the theme “Speaking Up Against Dangerous Driving: Crashes Kill More Passengers Than Drivers.” She encouraged passengers to speak out against reckless driving for their safety and pledged the command’s commitment to ensuring safe travel across Anambra’s roads this holiday season. Commander Alexander also thanked the state government and stakeholders for their support and called for continued collaboration.

Traditional leaders in attendance, including the Traditional Ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu (represented by Prime Minister Engineer Benjamin Okoye), and the Traditional Ruler of Umueri, Igwe Ben Emeka, praised the FRSC’s dedication to road safety. They committed to establishing safety committees within their communities and pledged to share safety knowledge with other local leaders to promote road safety awareness at the grassroots level.
