Governor Soludo’s Free Education Policy Takes Effect as Principals Refund Fees

The Anambra State government’s commitment to free education has taken a significant step forward following Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s directive to extend free education from nursery through senior secondary school. Principals across public secondary schools in the state have complied by refunding school fees previously collected from students in Senior Secondary School (SSS) 1 to 3.

Mrs. Stella-Maris Okoye of Community Secondary School, Aguluezechukwu; Lady Stella Onwuyalu of Community Secondary School, Amichi; and Mr. Benson Okeke of Government Technical College, Ihiala, confirmed that they had refunded the fees in line with the government’s directive.

While applauding the initiative, the principals urged the government to increase funding for school operations and encouraged the Club of Patrons to enhance their support for educational institutions.

Students from Ezeike High School, Nibo, including Chukwuemeka Anazor and Vivian Ojobo (both in S.S. 2) as well as Favour Godwin (S.S. 3), also confirmed receiving refunds from their principal, Mrs. Theresa Okafor. The students expressed gratitude for the policy, vowing to excel in their academics to honor their families, state, and country.

The free education initiative, which initially covered nursery to Junior Secondary School (JSS) 3, now extends to SSS classes to ensure that Anambra children have access to quality education while easing the financial burden on parents amidst prevailing economic challenges.
