Igbariam community in Anambra East Local Government Area marked a historic occasion as they held their first mass return in 28 years, bringing together members from across the country and abroad. This fourth mass return, the first since 1996, was a celebration of unity and cultural heritage.
The event featured vibrant cultural performances, including traditional dances, masquerades, and displays of local cuisine, showcasing the rich heritage of Ndi Igbariam. Women, dressed in uniforms representing their villages, participated in a colorful march past.
Honourable Obi Nweke, the member representing Anambra East in the State House of Assembly and an indigene of Igbariam, commended the leadership of Dr. Chris Offokansi, the community’s President General, for fostering development and unity. He highlighted the community’s progress and growth under this leadership.
The Mayor of Oyi Local Government, Mr. Emmanuel Nweke, encouraged Ndi Igbariam to embrace the Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) model promoted by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to attract further development.
Dr. Offokansi, in his welcome address, emphasized the significance of the day as a celebration of the community’s unity and shared purpose. Professor Charles Nwadigwe, Chairman of the occasion, urged the community to continue fostering peace, progress, and unity. Elders from the community offered their prayers, blessing Dr. Offokansi and his team for their dedication to the community’s development.
