The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, yesterday decorated six newly appointed Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) and one Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The decoration ceremony follows the retirement of six veteran DIGs on March 3, 2025, after 35 years of meritorious service.
The newly appointed DIGs are DIG Sadiq Idiris Abubakar, former Commandant of the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano; DIG Benjamin Nebolisa Okolo, former AIG of the Department of Information Communication Technology, Force Headquarters Abuja; DIG Williams Adebowale, former Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos; DIG Bzigu Yakubu Kwazi Bali, former AIG of the FCID Annex, Enugu; DIG Idegwu Basil Ukuoma, former AIG of Zone 14, Katsina; and DIG Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, former AIG of Zone 16, Yenagoa.
Additionally, AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu, former Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, was decorated as the newly promoted Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
In his remarks, the IGP congratulated the officers and urged them to uphold the core values of integrity, professionalism, and service. He expressed confidence in their capacity to inspire confidence within the Force and among the public, while contributing to the advancement of the Nigeria Police Force.
