IGP Orders Tight Security for Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Celebration, Sends Warm Greetings to Citizens

As Nigeria marks its 64th Independence Anniversary, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the implementation of enhanced security measures nationwide to ensure a safe and festive atmosphere for all citizens.

In his directive, the IGP called for the strategic deployment of human and tactical resources across the country. This move, according to Mr. Egbetokun, is aimed at safeguarding public gatherings and preventing any potential threats to life, property, or the celebratory events.

The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are set to bolster security at key event locations and along major highways, leaving no room for criminal activities. Officers involved in these operations have been instructed to maintain a balance of firmness and respect when interacting with the public, ensuring smooth and peaceful celebrations.

In his Independence Day message, Mr. Egbetokun extended heartfelt congratulations to all Nigerians, urging them to reflect on the country’s journey, its triumphs, challenges, and the sacrifices made by generations of patriots. He emphasized the importance of remembering Nigeria’s founding fathers, whose vision and determination laid the foundation for the nation’s unity, growth, and progress.

Reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to safeguarding lives and upholding the rule of law, the IGP assured the public that the force remains committed to promoting peace and unity across the country. He also encouraged citizens to reignite their national pride, work towards fostering unity, and contribute to building a prosperous future for all.

“As we commemorate our independence, let us remember our collective responsibility to maintain peace, respect the law, and strive towards a brighter and more unified Nigeria,” Mr. Egbetokun concluded.
