In Eight Months, Gov Soludo Has Given Over N743m to MSMEs In Anambra – Chukwuka

The governor of Anambra state, Professor Chukwuma Soludo CFR., has given loan facilities through ASBA to medium, small and micro enterprises in the state to the tune of N743m (seven hundred and forty three million, five hundred thousand naira only) aimed at reducing poverty and improving productivity in the state.

This was made known during the solution chat organised by the I-Witness Media Office and anchored by Choice Chioma themed: Solution Support To MSMEs through the Anambra State Small Business Agency (ASBA).

Speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ASBA, Chief Clement Chukwuka informed that the Governor, Prof. Soludo inaugurated ASBA Board in August 2023 and since then, his Agency has funded MSMEs to the tune of N743m with over N2b more to disburse to entrepreneurs in the state.

He pointed out that medium, small and micro enterprises are the life wire of every state contributing about seventy percent of the total productivity capacity.

Said he, ” The mandate of Mr Governor to ASBA is to reduce poverty to the barest minimum and fund businesses. Ndi Anambra are known for industrialisation, Agriculture and Trade and Commerce e.t.c. Mind you, these are loans to businesses in the state which the state uses to help entrepreneurs produce more and eliminate poverty.

” So far, since August last year, we’ve funded the industrialisation and corporate sector about 30% (215m), trade and commerce 38% (285m), Agriculture and it’s value chain about 27%, hospitality industry about 5%. Our target is to do at least N1.5b before the year runs out”, Chukwuka said

He furthered stated that the agency also carry out capacity training for entrepreneurs on how to manage their businesses, give advice to them and help them to succeed through monitoring and supervision of the application of the funds.
