Despite calls for cancellation by the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Edo State yesterday. This initiative aims to register new voters and facilitate vote transfers ahead of the September 21 governorship election.
Edo State APC Chairman, Emperor Tenebe, had urged INEC to cancel the exercise due to damage to the party’s secretariat and the materials and equipment intended for registration.
Monitoring of the exercise in Oredo, Egor, and Ikpoba-Okha local government areas revealed that Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection was also ongoing alongside the voter registration process.
