Renowned Nollywood actress Ini Edo has revealed her reasons for opting for surrogacy instead of carrying her child herself. She shared her journey during Season 3 of the reality show **”Young, Famous, and African.”**
The actress disclosed that her decision stemmed from fertility challenges, including multiple miscarriages. Ini Edo revealed that she had undergone six failed IVF attempts before embracing surrogacy.
Speaking about her daughter’s paternity, she stated:
“He is not dead. He does not have anything to do with us. It’s just me and my daughter. I’m raising her alone.”
Explaining further, the 42-year-old actress said:
“I never thought I would have fertility issues, but I’ve had problems carrying pregnancies long term. When it seemed like it wasn’t going to happen, and I wasn’t getting younger, I explored my options. Surrogacy came up, and I took it. I’m very happy with my decision.”
Ini Edo also addressed her marital status. She was previously married to Nigerian-American businessman Philip Ehiagwina in 2008, but the union ended in divorce in 2014.
The actress emphasized that her journey to motherhood was deeply personal and one she’s proud of, adding that she is focused on providing her daughter with love and support as a single mother.
