Ivory Coast, Cameroon Secure Wins as AFCON Group Matches Continue

Results from Wednesday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations group matches have been recorded across Groups E and F.

In Group F, defending champions Ivory Coast edged Mozambique 1–0, with Manchester United winger Amad Diallo scoring the decisive goal. Cameroon also claimed a narrow 1–0 victory over Gabon in the same group, as Etta Eyong found the net in the first half.

Group E fixtures saw Algeria record a comfortable 3–0 win over Sudan. Captain Riyad Mahrez scored twice, while Ibrahim Maza added another goal. Burkina Faso also earned a 2–1 victory against Equatorial Guinea, a result that placed them second in the group behind Algeria.

No matches are scheduled for Thursday, Christmas Day. The second round of group-stage fixtures will resume on Friday, Boxing Day.

Angola will face Zimbabwe on Friday afternoon, while Egypt are set to take on South Africa later in the evening. Zambia will meet Comoros, and Morocco will clash with Mali on Friday night.
