JAMB Releases Additional UTME Results Amidst Cybersecurity Concerns

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of an additional 36,540 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, previously withheld for further investigation. This development brings the total number of released results to 1,879,437, following the release of 531 results the previous week.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB refuted circulating reports on social media alleging a cybersecurity breach compromising the integrity of the 2024 UTME results. The board emphasized that the ongoing scrutiny of outstanding results does not indicate any compromise in its operational processes. It urged the public to disregard such misleading information crafted by fraudsters with the intent to deceive unsuspecting individuals.

JAMB also addressed a fictitious letter circulating on social media, purportedly originating from the board, suggesting a compromise in the UTME results and contemplating the rescheduling of the examination. The board clarified that the unsigned letter lacks authenticity and is a fabrication intended to tarnish its reputation. JAMB reaffirmed the integrity of its operational processes and assured the public that UTME results are secure and not susceptible to hacking.

Regarding the withheld results, JAMB reiterated its commitment to conducting thorough investigations into cases of examination misconduct. The board emphasized its use of CCTV footage from accredited examination centers to ascertain the culpability of candidates involved in malpractice. Results found to be linked to misconduct will undergo review, with findings to be published in due course.

In response to concerns about low cutoff marks allegedly set by private institutions, JAMB clarified that minimum admissible scores are determined collectively by all institutions at the annual Policy Meeting on Admissions. The board cautioned against misleading comments from private institutions and urged religious organizations to refrain from making false representations to government authorities.

As JAMB continues to uphold transparency and integrity in the conduct of examinations, it calls on the public to remain vigilant against misinformation and rely on official communications from the board.
