JAMB Reports Low Turnout at Additional Registration Points for 2024 Direct Entry Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the establishment of extra registration points for 2024 Direct Entry (DE) candidates proved largely unnecessary due to a low turnout. These additional points were set up beyond the Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) in Lagos, Kwara, Osun, and Ogun States to accommodate prospective DE candidates.

According to a statement by JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, on Wednesday, the turnout at these supplementary registration centres was minimal. He noted that most eligible candidates had already completed their registration, rendering the additional centres underutilized.

Dr. Benjamin highlighted that centres like JKK Lagos, JAMB PRC Ikoyi, and Ogba in Ikeja, Lagos, which were prepared to handle over 100 candidates daily, often saw fewer than ten candidates per day.

Despite the low turnout, JAMB encouraged any remaining eligible candidates to take advantage of the registration facilities, as no further extensions will be provided. The extra registration points will remain operational until the conclusion of the exercise on Monday, June 17, 2024, with no appeals for additional time to be entertained.

Additionally, JAMB announced that the 2024 Supplementary UTME exams are scheduled for Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22, 2024.
