A combined operation by a police-led Anti-Sit-at-Home Joint Patrol and Anambra Vigilante operatives has successfully disrupted a notorious criminal gang operating in the Nkwelle-Ezunaka area of Anambra State.
During the operation, which took place on Monday, two armed suspects were apprehended, while their alleged leader, known as *Akada*, remains at large and has been declared wanted. The gang is accused of armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and enforcing illegal sit-at-home orders.
The arrested suspects, identified as Chinedu Amah and Prince Nwogu, were caught after a victim raised an alarm, reporting that the gang had held him at gunpoint and stolen his iPhone and other valuables. A hot chase by the security operatives led to their capture.
Recovered during the operation were an English-made pistol and other incriminating items.
The suspects have reportedly confessed to the crime, implicating *Akada* as the gang leader. Efforts are underway to apprehend the fugitive and other members of the gang.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, assured the public of the command’s determination to clamp down on criminal elements in the state. “Further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses,” he stated.
