Jose Peseiro, former head coach of the Super Eagles, has refuted claims of any discussions regarding his potential return to the Nigerian national team. In an interview with Soccernet, the Portuguese coach emphasized that neither the Ministry of Sports nor the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has made any contact with him regarding the vacant coaching position.
Peseiro departed from his role as head coach after his contract with the NFF expired in February. Following his departure, the NFF announced an open vacancy for the position, with several candidates, including Emmanuel Amunike and Michael Nsien, linked to the role. Additionally, three European coaches—Danny Bujis, Domenec Torrent, and Toni Conceicao—were shortlisted as final contenders.
Despite speculations suggesting a possible return for Peseiro, the 63-year-old coach clarified that he is currently on holiday and has not engaged in any discussions with Nigerian sports authorities. Instead, he revealed his focus on enjoying his break and following upcoming matches, including fixtures involving Real Madrid.
