Kaduna State Reunites 39 Detained Children with Families, Offers Rehabilitation Support

In a heartfelt ceremony held at the Children’s Homes on Katuru Road in Kaduna, 39 children previously detained by the Federal Government were officially reunited with their families on Wednesday. As part of their reintegration, each child received N100,000 and an Itel A18s smartphone from the Kaduna State government.

Governor Uba Sani expressed his administration’s commitment to supporting the children as they re-enter society, emphasizing a focus on rehabilitation and empowerment to help them become responsible citizens. Representing the governor, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, outlined plans for providing education, skills training, and potential employment opportunities for those who qualify.

Dr. Meyere shared that the governor instructed the collection of educational credentials for those who had completed tertiary studies, with some to receive start-up capital, skills training, or job placements. These incentives will be based on good behavior, with government officials tracking each child’s progress through recorded contact information.

In addition to medical examinations, the children participated in psycho-social counseling and received guidance from religious leaders to help them reintegrate positively into their communities. Governor Sani’s gesture of providing N100,000 and replacement phones serves as a goodwill measure, aiming to support the children as they transition back into everyday life.
