Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Radda, has officially launched the Magnet Academy Al-Huda, a specialized educational institution for orphans and vulnerable children, in a ceremony held on Saturday.
The academy was established by the Islamic Ummah Relief organization, aimed at providing quality education to disadvantaged children in the region.
During the inauguration, Governor Radda emphasized the spiritual and social importance of supporting orphans, saying, “Such acts of compassion attract divine mercy and blessings.” He urged the Muslim community to embrace the spirit of sacrifice to bring joy to orphans’ lives.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed, the governor expressed satisfaction with the academy’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities, which he described as comparable to leading private institutions in Nigeria. He also extended his gratitude to Zaharaddeen Ibrahim, Chairman of Islamic Ummah Relief USA, for choosing Katsina State for the project.
Governor Radda assured continued personal and governmental support to ensure the academy’s success and growth.
The state’s Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Zainab Musawa, praised the initiative, calling it “a source of pride for the Muslim community” and encouraging other charitable efforts to support the less privileged.
The event also featured a speech by Alhaji Kabiru Kadiri English, the Sarkin Hausawa of Ghana, who revealed that the academy was funded through international donations from countries including the USA, UK, Australia, Uganda, Nigeria, and Niger Republic.
Zaharaddeen Ibrahim outlined plans for the academy’s expansion, including the construction of secondary education facilities and sponsorship for high-performing students to study abroad.
