KEON FC defeated Home Sample FC 2-1 in the opening match of the 2024/2025 Urum Anike Unity Cup Football Tournament. The thrilling game, held at the Community Primary School field in Urum, Awka North Local Government Area, drew football enthusiasts from within and beyond the community, who were captivated by the skillful performances of both teams.
In their remarks, the President General of Urum Development Union, Sir Felix Oranye, represented by his Vice and Chairman of the Urum Football Committee, Mr. Emmanuel Ojeani, alongside the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Engineer Okechukwu Aniebonam, commended both teams for their sportsmanship. They encouraged other teams in the tournament to emulate the fair play and dedication displayed.
Mr. Kodilichukwu Okeke, Chairman of KEON FC, expressed gratitude for his team’s victory and voiced optimism about their chances of winning the tournament, attributing their success to divine favor.
Meanwhile, Mr. Christian Nwakeze, CEO of Home Sample FC, congratulated the winning team and emphasized that his primary goal is the unity and progress of Urum community. He expressed hope that his team would perform better in subsequent matches.
