British monarch King Charles III has expressed admiration for Nigerian singer Davido, revealing that his music played a role in his appreciation of Pidgin English.
Speaking on the newly premiered Apple Music show, The King’s Music Room, on Monday, King Charles disclosed his growing interest in the Nigerian creole language, stating that he hopes to speak it the next time he visits Nigeria.
He also shared his diverse taste in music and named Davido’s song “Kante,” featuring Fave, as one of his favorites.
“Davido has made me love Pidgin language. I would like to speak it the next time I visit Nigeria. Thanks to Afrobeats, it’s becoming more popular around the world,” he said.
Following the revelation, Davido reposted a clip from the show on his Instagram story, giving a shout-out to the royal family.
