As part of activities marking the 19th convocation ceremony of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Barrister Monsur Olugbenga Kukoyi, Acting Vice Chancellor of the citadel of learning, Professor Joseph Ikechebelu accompanied by the past Vice Chancellor of the school, Professor Joseph Ahaneku alongside others have commissioned Chief & Mrs Zephaniah Madubuko auditorium: a 700-seater auditorium built for the university by Chief Chinedu Benson Madubuko, Chico, Ezeani Chinechendo Adazi-Ani.
The event which held earlier today at the new auditorium located at the new faculty of social sciences witnessed the attendance of many university dons including, Professor Uche Nwaogwugwu, Professor Cornelius Ukwueze, friends and well-wellers of Chief Madubuko, like Engr. Ikechukwu Okafor, the benefactors Personal Assistant and Chairman, Zephcare Foundation, Adazi-Ani among others.
Commissioning the auditorium, Professor Joseph Ahaneku commended Chief Chinedu Benson Madubuko for starting and finishing the project and not abandoning it.
He prayed God to continue blessing him, his family and business and congratulated the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Ikechebelu for Gods grace on him.
In his brief address, the benefactor of the auditorium, Chief Chinedu Benson Madubuko informed that the idea of building the auditorium was first mooted sometime in 2022 at his country home in Adazi-Ani when Professor Uche Nwaogwugwu was the Dean of the faculty of social sciences.
According to him, the auditorium was to be a 250-seater capacity which was later adjusted to 500 seaters and was estimated to cost N500 million naira. Later on due to fuel subsidy removal and its attendant jacking up in prices of everything, they later modeled it to 700-seater auditorium with a total cost of N1.08 billion naira only.
He highlighted other challenges encountered during the construction to include issues of the soil texture forcing the foundation to be lifted up to 1 metre, certain engineering corrections and many others.
Chief Madubuko stated that it was his prayer that the auditorium will uplift all workers, students, lecturers that will use it for their studies, the faculty and the university at large.
Reeling out the specifics, Engineer Chidi of Arcon Global Engineering Ltd stated that the auditorium building project started in January 2023 and has now been completed.
He said the edifice had 700-seater capacity auditorium, the ‘concus’, 16 offices and 3 halls that can be used for conferences.
Engineer Chidi prayed God to continue blessing Chief Chinedu Benson Madubuko and that God may replenish from wherever he sourced money to build the auditorium.
