Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State revealed on Thursday that civil servants in the state have been receiving a minimum wage of N70,000 since January, including an additional N35,000 wage allowance.

Sanwo-Olu made this declaration during a public function, assuring workers that his administration is committed to implementing a new minimum wage scheme in the near future.

The governor stressed the importance of transparency in communicating such developments, reaffirming his government’s dedication to supporting citizens during challenging times.

Additionally, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced plans to distribute food items to 500,000 households across the state through unions and local government channels.

Regarding the ‘Ounje Eko’ Initiative, aimed at providing discounted food items, Sanwo-Olu explained that 59 makeshift markets have been established outside of regular markets, ensuring accessibility for residents every Sunday.
