Yesterday, 8th of April, 2025 in Anambra State, over 3,000 members of Late Senator Ifeanyi Uba’s political structures have officially joined the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) where they endorsed the Governor of Anambra state, Professor Charles Soludo for second term. The ceremony was held at International Convention Center in Awka.
The political structures were: Afa Igbo Efuna, Ifeanyi Uba Solidarity Movement (IUSM), Uba Disciples, Young Progressive Party (YPP), Ifeanyi Uba’s Foundation and Uba Nation Media Centre.
Speaking during the ceremony, the coordinator of IUSM, Hon. Emma Ezike said, “We all know that the intention of late Senator Ifeanyi Uba is for Anambra to be better but he is no more. Therefore, we, the IUSM decided to look into the footsteps of our former principal and concluded even before the primary election that we will join political family that practice like us, so we join the government of Prof. Charles Soludo.”
The coordinator of Afa Igbo Efuna, Hon James Oguejiofor said “I was privileged to be one of those who inspected your project in Anambra State, before that project I never knew you were doing wonderful work. I visited Okpoko, Ekwulobia, the Fun City, the New Government House and all the projects.
“I am from Oraifite, and Mr. Governor you came to Oraifite and flagged off roads and I told my people that we will now follow Soludo. Today we declare support for you, we are going to follow you, work for you.”
“I also invited our Nollywood family because they are part of my family that all of us will join you in this journey and you will return as the next governor of Anambra again”, he declared.
The governor in his statement announced that APGA was the first progressive political party in Nigeria since 2002. He then narrated his relationship and meetings with the late Senator, also his last encounter with him before his demise
“In 2019, APGA did not treat the late Senator well. The late Senator would have won the primary election then but something happened and he was disqualified. In 2019 he left APGA to YPP with some APGA members.”
“I too suffered the same thing in 2013. In 2012, the national chairman APGA told me to come out for governorship election but I told him let me think about it, the next year 2013 I came out and I was disqualified. I told myself that I was not going anywhere, I stayed back and to help build the party.”
“I will say that if late Senator Ifeanyi Uba was alive it will be very possible he will be the one that is organizing this rally to join APGA today but may his soul rest in peace.”
“I want to join in welcoming you for the second time back into the fold (APGA) the party where you belong. Today, we are not just opening our arms to welcome you, we are telling you that you’re one of us, no matter when you joined, whether you joined today or 20years ago we are all equal members of APGA and we move as a family.” Soludo said.
