Bayer Leverkusen secured a 3-1 victory over Bochum on Friday, reducing Bayern Munich’s lead at the top of the Bundesliga table to three points.
Aleix Garcia opened the scoring for Leverkusen in the first half with a well-placed strike, but Bochum quickly responded through Felix Passlack after a defensive mistake by Granit Xhaka.
Victor Boniface, making his first start since February, restored Leverkusen’s lead with a close-range finish in the 60th minute. Amine Adli sealed the win in the 87th minute after a pass from Exequiel Palacios.
Leverkusen dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances until late in the game. Boniface had a second goal disallowed for offside in the 80th minute.
Bayern Munich will look to restore their six-point lead when they face St. Pauli on Saturday, though they will be without key defenders Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano due to injuries.
