Nigerian actress Lilian Afegbai has criticized a Lagos-based friend for pricing her wedding aso ebi in dollars.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Afegbai expressed shock after discovering that the fabric was being sold for $1,200. She questioned the growing trend among Nigerian brides, saying they were “doing too much.”
She recounted how she received an invitation to the wedding and was initially excited, only to later realize the aso ebi price was in dollars.
“I saw 1200 and thought it was in naira, thinking maybe she was doing a giveaway. Then I checked the link and saw the dollar sign. When I converted it—1200 times 1600—I was shocked. For your own wedding? Is it my ‘I do’? Everybody should relax; there is life after the wedding,” she said.
Her post has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with her while others defended the bride’s decision.
