The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, has announced the indefinite closure of the institution after a student protest erupted over the decision to verify National Diploma (ND) results from previous schools.
In a statement released on Monday by the Head of Public Relations, Yemi Ajibola, the management explained that the verification was aimed at combating the growing issue of fake results. However, the move sparked protests from students, prompting the school to suspend all activities to ensure the safety of lives and property.
The statement read, “Authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta have announced the closure of the polytechnic effective from Monday, 13th January 2025, till further notice. This is to ensure the safety of lives and properties owing to the protest by some students on the decision of the management to verify their National Diploma results from their former schools.”
The management reiterated its zero tolerance for fake results and assured parents and the public of timely updates. Students have been advised to stay away from the campus, and all academic activities have been suspended indefinitely.
