Payment giant Mastercard has announced the commencement of the third edition of its Women SME Leaders Awards, aimed at recognizing the exceptional achievements of women-owned and led businesses across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EEMEA).
Nominations are now open for the awards, inviting entries from women-owned and operated SMEs with a turnover of less than $13.6 million and a workforce of six to 50 employees, according to a statement released by the company.
All female executives or business owners with headquarters or offices in EEMEA, or offering services to those markets, are eligible to submit their nominations by May 20, 2024. The winners will be announced during an in-person event in Dubai on June 6, 2024.
Amnah Ajmal, Executive Vice President of Market Development, EEMEA for Mastercard, emphasized the vital role of women-owned and led businesses in fostering economic growth and stability. Ajmal stated, “By empowering women entrepreneurs and business leaders, we unlock the boundless potential they have and drive inclusive prosperity.”
The awards will feature 15 categories ranging from creative leadership to social impact, including a lifetime achievement award. Shortlisted candidates will be evaluated by a distinguished judging committee comprising industry leaders dedicated to recognizing excellence and innovation in women-owned and led businesses.
Mastercard reaffirmed its commitment to connecting 25 million women entrepreneurs to the digital economy by 2025, aligning with the global initiative. Despite achieving this goal last year, two years ahead of schedule, Mastercard continues to prioritize building a more sustainable and inclusive world through initiatives like the Women SME Leaders Awards.
