Mater Christi Secondary School, Awada, Onitsha, has emerged as the overall winner of the 2024 Foreign Languages Singing Competition organized by Stelated Bilateral Educational Consultancy (SBEC) and supported by Zenith Bank PLC. The school claimed the top prize of ₦700,000.
Saint Kizito Secondary School, Umudioka, secured second place, earning ₦400,000, while Rosa Mystica High School, Agulu, took third place with a ₦300,000 prize.
The grand finale, held at the ASUU Secretariat, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, attracted students and teachers from participating schools across Anambra State. The event featured various activities, including a singing competition, a short quiz, prize presentations, and a drama performance in French by students of Saint Mark’s Standard School, Omagba Phase One, Onitsha.
Delivering the opening address, Venerable Paul Ojukwu spoke on the topic *”Embracing the Love of Christ,”* urging students to live in love and avoid wrongdoing.
The competition’s organizer, Mr. Stephen Igweze, highlighted that the event, which began last year, has now concluded successfully. He also announced that another edition will be held later this year, promising a tougher contest with even bigger prizes.
Zenith Bank’s representative, Mr. Nduka Nwanokwai, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting education while emphasizing the importance of financial literacy for students.
Mr. Johnbosco Odawulu, head of the Music Academy at Mater Christi, expressed his delight at the victory, noting the dedication and rigorous training that led to the win.
In the foreign language quiz segment, Chimamanda Chukwuemeka from Handmaid Girls Secondary School, Amansea, emerged as the winner.
